We are currently seeking a dedicated Environmental Compliance Officer to join our dynamic team in Nigeria, ensuring our construction projects adhere to the highest environmental and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all site environmental controls, including dust suppression, noise monitoring, water discharge controls, and soil erosion prevention.
  • Monitor and record environmental performance against approved standards and produce comprehensive monthly compliance reports.
  • Manage construction waste by ensuring correct segregation, storage, and disposal through licensed contractors while maintaining accurate waste transfer records.
  • Oversee concrete washout areas to prevent waste or wash water from entering drainage systems or open ground.
  • Monitor fuel and chemical storage areas for leakage risks and effectively manage any spill incidents.
  • Coordinate regulatory environmental site inspections, escort inspectors, and respond proactively to compliance notices.
  • Maintain the environmental compliance log and report any non-compliance incidents immediately to the HSE Manager and Project Director.
  • Support environmental consultants in preparing post-construction environmental compliance documentation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of proven experience in environmental compliance management specifically on construction projects within Nigeria.
  • Strong, up-to-date knowledge of applicable Nigerian environmental standards and construction environmental management requirements.
  • First-hand experience successfully managing regulatory environmental site inspections and liaising with statutory bodies.
  • Diligent, systematic, and proactive approach to risk identification, environmental monitoring, and meticulous record-keeping.
