We are currently seeking a dedicated Environmental Compliance Officer to join our dynamic team in Nigeria, ensuring our construction projects adhere to the highest environmental and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities- Manage all site environmental controls, including dust suppression, noise monitoring, water discharge controls, and soil erosion prevention.
- Monitor and record environmental performance against approved standards and produce comprehensive monthly compliance reports.
- Manage construction waste by ensuring correct segregation, storage, and disposal through licensed contractors while maintaining accurate waste transfer records.
- Oversee concrete washout areas to prevent waste or wash water from entering drainage systems or open ground.
- Monitor fuel and chemical storage areas for leakage risks and effectively manage any spill incidents.
- Coordinate regulatory environmental site inspections, escort inspectors, and respond proactively to compliance notices.
- Maintain the environmental compliance log and report any non-compliance incidents immediately to the HSE Manager and Project Director.
- Support environmental consultants in preparing post-construction environmental compliance documentation.
- Bachelor degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of proven experience in environmental compliance management specifically on construction projects within Nigeria.
- Strong, up-to-date knowledge of applicable Nigerian environmental standards and construction environmental management requirements.
- First-hand experience successfully managing regulatory environmental site inspections and liaising with statutory bodies.
- Diligent, systematic, and proactive approach to risk identification, environmental monitoring, and meticulous record-keeping.
