About the Role
Bolton White Hotels & Apartments, located centrally in Abuja near the International Conference Centre and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, is seeking a dedicated Kitchen Steward to join our premier hospitality team. In this vital role, you will serve as the backbone of our culinary operations, ensuring our chefs are fully equipped and our guests experience exceptional dining standards with spotless service ware in a fast-paced luxury hotel environment.
Key Responsibilities- Operate industrial dishwashing machinery, ensuring correct chemical dilutions and proper water temperatures are maintained at all times.
- Wash cookware, delicate glassware, and specialized culinary equipment according to strict safety and hygiene standards.
- Sort and stack cleaned items systematically to prevent breakage and ensure quick access for the kitchen line team.
- Execute a rigorous cleaning schedule for floors, walls, and kitchen surfaces to meet health department and hotel regulations.
- Empty, sanitize, and reline waste bins, while managing the proper separation of waste and recyclables.
- Assist with unloading food delivery trucks and organized stock rotation using the FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory method.
- Perform basic food preparation support tasks during peak operational periods under the guidance of the Sous Chef.
- Minimum of a Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or equivalent practical hospitality experience.
- Prior experience working in a commercial kitchen, hotel, or restaurant environment as a steward or kitchen porter is a distinct advantage.
- Strong understanding of basic kitchen hygiene, health and safety regulations, and sanitation practices.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks in a fast-paced environment.
