About the Role
Dangote Group, Africa's leading diversified business conglomerate, is seeking an experienced Engineering Director for our Construction & Heavy Industries division based in Lagos, Nigeria. In this executive role, you will provide critical technical leadership and engineering assurance across major capital projects, ensuring compliance with international standards, optimal constructability, and rigorous multidisciplinary integration.
Key Responsibilities- Provide overall technical leadership and engineering governance across all projects, ensuring design assurance and discipline integration.
- Establish and enforce robust engineering management systems including design review gates, deliverable registers, and change control frameworks.
- Drive risk-based engineering decision-making under strict schedule and commercial pressures while maintaining uncompromising safety and quality standards.
- Oversee engineering inputs across the project lifecycle, ensuring seamless coordination between procurement, construction, and commissioning teams.
- Build, mentor, and lead high-performing multidisciplinary engineering teams to establish a sustainable, world-class Lagos-led engineering capability.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or a related engineering discipline; Master's degree or MBA is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 20 years of progressive engineering and design-management experience on major capital projects and EPC environments.
- Mandatory COREN registration for Nigeria-based engineering practice or recognized international Chartered Engineer credentials.
- Extensive background in managing international engineering centres, external consultants, and complex vendor interfaces.
