About the Role
Nigerian NewsDirect is a leading national newspaper and digital media platform dedicated to providing accurate, in-depth business, financial, and general news to decision-makers across Nigeria and beyond. We are currently looking for experienced Editors to drive our editorial vision, ensure the highest standards of journalistic integrity, and oversee the production of insightful news content for both our print and online editions.
Key Responsibilities- Review, edit, and polish news articles, investigative reports, and special features for clarity, accuracy, and adherence to house style.
- Assign stories to reporters and monitor developing news trends across sectors such as oil and gas, banking, politics, and the economy.
- Write engaging headlines, captions, and lead paragraphs that capture reader interest while maintaining professional standards.
- Ensure timely publication of breaking news and daily updates on our online platform.
- Mentor and guide junior reporters to improve their investigative reporting and writing skills.
- Verify facts, sources, and data to protect the publication against legal and ethical liabilities.
- Minimum of a Bachelor degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, English, or a related field.
- Proven professional experience as an Editor or Senior Reporter in a reputable media organization.
- Exceptional command of the English language with a sharp eye for detail and grammar.
- Strong understanding of Nigerian socio-economic landscapes, business, and politics.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight daily deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
