About the Role
The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is one of the world's leading research partners in finding solutions for hunger, malnutrition, and poverty. We are currently seeking a dependable and experienced Driver to join our dynamic team in Oyo State. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting our agricultural research and development initiatives by ensuring safe and timely transportation for our staff, consultants, and project materials.
Key Responsibilities- Provide safe and timely transportation for project staff, consultants, partners, and visitors in support of field activities.
- Transport project materials, equipment, and supplies securely to designated destinations and remote locations.
- Ensure assigned vehicles are clean, roadworthy, and maintained in accordance with IITA policies and manufacturer recommendations.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections and promptly report mechanical faults, accidents, or maintenance requirements.
- Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks, fuel consumption records, maintenance logs, and trip documentation.
- Observe all Nigerian traffic regulations and maintain safe driving practices at all times.
- Assist with loading and unloading project materials and support logistical arrangements for workshops and field visits.
- Minimum of a Secondary School Certificate; additional training in vehicle maintenance is a distinct advantage.
- A valid driver's licence appropriate to the vehicle class and a clean driving record are strictly required.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional driving experience, preferably with an NGO, international organization, or reputable corporate entity.
- Good knowledge of roads and routes within Oyo State, including rural and remote areas.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and time management skills with a high level of integrity and professionalism.
- Physically fit and willing to travel frequently within the assigned region.
