About the Role

We are currently seeking a dynamic, experienced, and highly qualified professional to join our vibrant academic community as the Deputy Chief Technologist within the Laboratory Technical Services for the Paul Odili College of Medicine, located in Lugbe, Abuja (FCT). This key leadership role involves overseeing complex laboratory operations, ensuring strict safety standards, and providing critical support for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research activities.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise technical staff and coordinate day-to-day laboratory operations within the College of Medicine.
- Manage laboratory equipment maintenance, calibration, inventory, and procurement processes.
- Enforce stringent quality control, quality assurance, and laboratory safety protocols in compliance with industry standards.
- Support academic staff and students in practical laboratory sessions, research projects, and clinical demonstrations.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all laboratory technical services.
- Perform other relevant administrative and technical duties assigned by the University authority.
- Possession of a relevant Bachelor's degree, HND, or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant laboratory discipline.
- Minimum of 12 years of relevant post-qualification experience in a recognized tertiary institution, teaching hospital, research institute, or medical laboratory.
- Appropriate professional registration or valid license where applicable.
- Demonstrated expertise in laboratory administration, equipment management, and staff supervision.
