About the Role
The Katsina State Government, through the Katsina State Hospitals Services Management Board (KTHSMB), is seeking a qualified and compassionate Dental Therapist to join our public healthcare team. In this role, you will play a vital part in improving community health outcomes by delivering exceptional preventive and basic curative oral health services within our healthcare facilities. You will collaborate with dental professionals, educate the public on proper dental hygiene, and ensure that our clinics maintain the highest standards of infection control and patient care. Key Responsibilities- Conduct basic oral examinations and comprehensive patient assessments.
- Perform scaling and polishing of teeth to maintain optimal periodontal health.
- Provide preventive treatments, including fluoride applications and fissure sealants.
- Assist qualified dentists in simple restorative dental procedures under appropriate supervision.
- Educate patients of all ages on proper oral hygiene and preventive care practices.
- Maintain accurate, confidential dental records and patient documentation.
- Ensure strict adherence to infection prevention and control protocols.
- Prepare, clean, and sterilize dental instruments and equipment.
- Support dentists and other healthcare professionals during clinical procedures.
- Participate actively in community oral health outreach programs across the state.
- Possession of a Diploma in Dental Therapy or Oral Health from a recognized institution.
- Must possess a valid professional registration and practicing license from the relevant regulatory body.
- Demonstrated proficiency in basic clinical and preventive dental skills.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and patient care skills.
- Relevant clinical experience in a recognized dental clinic or hospital setting is an added advantage.
