About the Role
The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) Abuja is a premier 500-bed specialty hospital delivering world-class oncology, cardiovascular, and haematological care in partnership with Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. We are seeking a skilled Cyclotron Manager to lead the strategic direction, operational excellence, and radiation safety compliance of our medical cyclotron facility. In this vital role, you will manage an IBA Cyclone KUIBE 18 MeV cyclotron, ensuring the reliable and efficient production of medical isotopes for clinical diagnostics and research.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee daily operations of the medical cyclotron and associated equipment to ensure seamless radiopharmaceutical production.
- Develop and execute preventive and corrective maintenance programmes for cyclotron systems, chemistry modules, and hot cells.
- Ensure full compliance with Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority standards, ALARA principles, and cGMP guidelines.
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a technical team of cyclotron technicians, engineers, and support staff.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of production logs, quality control data, and radiation safety records.
- Collaborate closely with medical physicists, radiochemists, and nuclear medicine physicians to align production with clinical demands.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Radiography, or Nuclear Medicine Technology (Master's degree preferred).
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in cyclotron operations, with 2-3 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong working knowledge of OEM cyclotron systems (such as IBA, GE, or Siemens) and automated synthesis modules.
- In-depth expertise in ionizing radiation regulations, radiation protection, and cGMP standards.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills for multidisciplinary healthcare environments.
