About the Role
Imo Robotic Surgery and Oncology Centre Limited is a pioneering, state-of-the-art medical institution established through a strategic Public-Private Partnership (PPP) with the Imo State Government. Located at the Imo State Specialist Hospital in Umuguma, Owerri, the centre is poised to become West Africa’s premier hub for advanced minimally invasive surgery and comprehensive cancer care. Driven by a mission to eliminate outbound medical tourism, the facility integrates cutting-edge DaVinci robotic surgical systems with world-class oncological expertise. We are currently seeking a dedicated and meticulous CSSD Technician to join our professional healthcare team and support our life-saving surgical operations.
Key Responsibilities- Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments, endoscopic equipment, and robotic surgical accessories according to strict hospital protocols.
- Operate and monitor sterilization equipment including autoclaves, washer-disinfectors, and low-temperature sterilizers.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date daily logs of sterilization cycles, biological indicator tests, and equipment maintenance schedules.
- Ensure sterile supplies are properly packaged, labeled, stored, and rotated to prevent contamination and expiration.
- Collaborate closely with the surgical suite and nursing teams to ensure timely delivery of sterile instruments for scheduled and emergency procedures.
- Comply with all infection control standards, safety guidelines, and occupational health regulations within the Central Sterile Services Department.
- Must possess relevant certification in Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) technology, nursing, medical laboratory technology, or a related healthcare field.
- Proven working experience as a CSSD Technician within a reputable hospital or clinical environment.
- Deep understanding of modern sterilization techniques, infection control principles, and surgical instrumentation handling.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced medical setting.
