About the Role
HRLeverage Africa is recruiting a dynamic and results-driven Credit and Recovery Manager on behalf of our esteemed client. In this strategic role, you will spearhead credit assessment, drive debt collections and recovery, and oversee comprehensive portfolio management to minimize financial risk and optimize cash flow.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the recovery of aging overdue portfolios and consistently drive aggressive cash recovery targets.
- Manage and reconcile overdue accounts utilizing strategic calls, field visits, formal demand letters, and legal escalations.
- Conduct thorough credit assessments for new and repeat applications using cash flow analysis, bank statements, trade references, and credit bureau data.
- Monitor overall portfolio performance to ensure the timely and proactive escalation of high-risk overdue accounts.
- Oversee credit control operations and manage accurate credit bureau reporting.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate the performance of Collections Officers and Data Entry Officers.
- Prepare comprehensive weekly recovery reports and detailed monthly portfolio performance summaries.
- Continuously strengthen and optimize internal credit assessment, risk evaluation, and approval processes.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Banking, or a closely related discipline.
- 5 to 8 years of professional experience in credit control, collections, debt recovery, or credit risk management.
- Minimum of 2 years of proven supervisory experience in a similar financial or lending environment.
- Demonstrated track record of successfully recovering difficult overdue credit facilities.
- Strong expertise in SME credit assessment and advanced financial statement analysis.
- Familiarity with credit bureau reporting, specifically with First Central CRB.
- Proficiency in Advanced Excel for portfolio tracking and data reporting.
- Exceptional analytical, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Fluency in the Yoruba language is an added advantage.
- Must be currently based in Ibadan or fully willing to relocate without institutional support.
- Must currently be employed in a comparable credit and recovery role.
- Competitive Gross Monthly Salary ranging from N600,000 to N800,000.
- Lucrative On-Target Earnings (OTE) of N9M to N14M Annually.
