About the Role
West African Exploration and Production Company (WAEP) is a leading indigenous energy company headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria, dedicated to sustainable hydrocarbon development. We are currently looking for a strategic and dynamic Corporate Communications & External Affairs professional to lead our engagement initiatives, safeguard our brand reputation, and foster strong relationships with key stakeholders across the West African energy sector.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute comprehensive corporate communications and external affairs strategies aligned with WAEP's overarching business goals.
- Manage executive communications, corporate messaging, official press releases, speeches, and publications.
- Cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with the media, industry associations, and regulatory bodies.
- Lead reputation management, proactive media monitoring, issues management, and crisis communications.
- Oversee digital communications, official website content, and approved social media channels.
- Design communication plans for major operational milestones, corporate events, and stakeholder engagements.
- Advise Executive Management on potential communication risks and stakeholder perceptions.
- Oversee communications agencies, vendors, budgets, and performance reporting metrics.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related discipline.
- 10 to 15 years of relevant corporate communications and public affairs experience within the oil and gas, energy, or heavily regulated sectors.
- Relevant professional certifications or memberships in public relations or marketing disciplines.
- Demonstrated expertise in crisis management, media relations, and executive communications.
