About the Role
World University Service of Canada (WUSC), in partnership with CICan, is seeking a qualified national consultant to support an exploratory analysis of the Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector in Nigeria. This initiative focuses on designing a program that bridges the gap between skills training and employment for young people, particularly young women, while aligning with Nigeria's economic growth priorities.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct a comprehensive context analysis of the Nigerian TVET and Skills for Employment sector at national and state levels.
- Investigate labor market relevance, targeting high-growth sectors such as renewable energy, ICT, agriculture, and manufacturing across key locations including Lagos, Kaduna, Kano, Bauchi, and Nasarawa.
- Map and engage key industry associations, chambers of commerce, and private sector actors with linkages to Canadian industries.
- Collaborate with GESI experts to integrate gender equality, social inclusion, and climate change considerations into the research and program design.
- Co-develop consultation plans, lead stakeholder identification, organize a two-week scoping mission, and contribute to final reporting and interpretation workshops.
- Master’s Degree or MBA in Economics or a relevant discipline, or a B.Sc. with equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience working with national/international organizations, government institutions, or the private sector in TVET.
- Deep understanding of and established professional networks within the Nigerian TVET system and private sector.
- Demonstrated commitment to gender equality, women's empowerment, and youth development.
- Fluency in English with exceptional writing, analytical, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Must be based in Nigeria with experience conducting similar national assignments.
