About the Role
The Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife, is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Consultant Specialist Grade I in Surgery (Neurosurgery) to join our prestigious healthcare institution. Established with a rich history of medical excellence and comprehensive patient care, OAUTHC serves as a leading tertiary health center in Nigeria, committed to advancing clinical practice, medical education, and research.
Key Responsibilities- Provide advanced specialized neurosurgical care and clinical services to patients at OAUTHC.
- Perform complex surgical procedures and manage pre-operative and post-operative patient care.
- Participate in the training, mentoring, and supervision of resident doctors, medical students, and other healthcare professionals.
- Conduct clinical research and contribute to medical literature to advance the field of neurosurgery.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary medical teams to ensure holistic and evidence-based patient treatment.
- Participate in departmental administrative duties, hospital meetings, and community health outreach programs as required.
- Possession of an MBBS, MBChB, or equivalent primary medical qualification from a recognized institution.
- Full registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) along with a current practicing license.
- Evidence of completion, exemption, or exclusion from the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
- Must hold a recognized postgraduate medical fellowship, such as the Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (FMCN) or the West African College of Surgeons (FWACS) in Neurosurgery.
