About the Role
The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) in Abuja is seeking a dedicated and visionary Consultant Oncologist (Radiotherapy) to join our state-of-the-art 500-bed specialty hospital. Developed by Afreximbank in clinical partnership with Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, AMCE Abuja offers comprehensive oncology services designed to provide exceptional care regardless of financial means. In this vital role, you will deliver precise radiation oncology services, drive clinical innovation, mentor junior medical staff, and contribute to our overarching academic and research missions.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert consultation, diagnosis, and management for patients requiring radiation oncology services using advanced technologies.
- Develop, prescribe, and oversee complex radiotherapy treatment plans, collaborating closely with medical physicists and dosimetrists.
- Participate actively in multidisciplinary team meetings with surgical oncologists, medical oncologists, and pathologists to determine optimal care pathways.
- Implement rigorous quality assurance, radiation safety protocols, and clinical governance policies in line with international standards.
- Drive the adoption of innovative radiotherapy techniques and lead clinical research projects to enhance patient outcomes.
- Provide professional supervision, mentorship, and training for junior doctors, residents, and clinical fellows.
- Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution with a valid medical license.
- Fellowship or Board Certification in Radiation Oncology or Clinical Oncology.
- Minimum of 5 years of post-fellowship experience in clinical radiation oncology.
- Proven expertise in advanced radiotherapy techniques including IMRT, VMAT, SBRT, and brachytherapy.
- Demonstrated experience working within a multidisciplinary oncology environment and proficiency with modern planning systems.
