About the Role
The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) Abuja is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Consultant Neurologist to join our cutting-edge 500-bed specialty hospital. Developed by Afreximbank in clinical partnership with King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, AMCE offers a unique opportunity to shape advanced healthcare delivery, education, and research in West Africa.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert inpatient and outpatient diagnosis, treatment, and management for complex neurological conditions including stroke, epilepsy, and movement disorders.
- Perform and interpret neurodiagnostic studies such as EEGs, nerve conduction studies, and EMGs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Lead acute stroke management protocols, thrombolysis coordination, and management of neurological emergencies.
- Supervise, mentor, and train junior doctors, residents, and medical students through bedside teaching and structured clinical rounds.
- Drive quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and engage in impactful peer-reviewed clinical research.
- Maintain precise documentation using advanced electronic medical record (EMR) systems and participate in departmental on-call rotas.
- Possess an MBBS/MD or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
- Hold a valid Board Certification in Neurology (e.g., FWACP, FMCNA, or equivalent international certification) alongside an active MDCN practicing license.
- Minimum of 5 years of post-fellowship clinical experience within a reputable, high-volume healthcare facility.
- Demonstrated proficiency in neurodiagnostic interpretation and adherence to international neurology guidelines.
