About the Role
The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) Abuja is a state-of-the-art 500-bed specialty hospital committed to delivering world-class diagnostics and treatment across various medical fields. Developed by Afreximbank in partnership with Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, we are seeking a dedicated Consultant Intensivist to provide expert medical care to critically ill patients and elevate our critical care services.
Key Responsibilities- Lead daily multidisciplinary ward rounds and formulate evidence-based management plans for ICU patients.
- Perform advanced diagnostic and life-saving procedures, including point-of-care ultrasound, central venous catheterization, and advanced mechanical ventilation.
- Collaborate seamlessly with clinical teams, referring physicians, and patients' families to ensure compassionate, transparent communication.
- Drive quality assurance, clinical governance, and compliance with international patient safety standards within the ICU.
- Mentor junior medical staff, participate in simulation-based training, and contribute to ongoing clinical research and development.
- Medical Degree (MD or equivalent) from an accredited institution with a valid medical practice license.
- Board certification in Critical Care Medicine and a base specialty such as Internal Medicine, Anesthesiology, or Surgery.
- Minimum of 5 years of post-fellowship experience as a consultant in an intensive care setting.
- Demonstrated proficiency in advanced airway management and point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS).
