About the Role

We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Consultant General Surgery to provide high-quality, patient-centred surgical care across both elective and emergency services within our world-class facility in Abuja, Nigeria.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide consultant-level management of a broad range of elective and emergency general surgical conditions using evidence-based practice.
  • Perform general surgical procedures independently, including the management of complex cases and surgical complications.
  • Lead outpatient clinics, ward rounds, theatre lists, emergency surgical reviews, and multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Provide clear patient and family counselling regarding diagnoses, treatment options, risks, and postoperative care to obtain informed consent.
  • Participate actively in the consultant on-call rota to ensure timely emergency surgical cover.
  • Contribute to clinical leadership, governance, quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and morbidity and mortality meetings.
  • Mentor, supervise, and teach junior medical staff, medical students, and clinical team members.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of post-fellowship experience practicing as a Consultant General Surgeon or at an equivalent specialist level.
  • Demonstrated expertise in assessing and managing diverse elective and emergency general surgical conditions.
  • Proven ability to perform complex surgical procedures independently and manage peri-operative complications.
  • Strong background in clinical supervision, teaching, multidisciplinary collaboration, and clinical governance.
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient safety, continuous professional development, and high-quality healthcare standards.
