About the Role
Maternal-Child Specialists' Clinics is a rapidly growing hospital in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, specializing in comprehensive maternity care, fetomaternal medicine, general gynaecology, paediatrics, and diverse surgical and medical fields. We are looking for a passionate Community Health Extension Worker (CHEW) to join our dynamic healthcare team and serve as the vital first point of contact for our mothers and children.
Key Responsibilities- Take and record accurate vital signs for all patients including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, weight, and height.
- Assist in Antenatal Care (ANC) clinics through patient booking, health education, tetanus immunizations, and dispensing essential supplements.
- Conduct routine immunizations and growth monitoring sessions for children under five years of age.
- Deliver insightful health talks covering nutrition, exclusive breastfeeding, family planning, and personal hygiene.
- Provide operational support in the labor room and postnatal ward by observing mothers and babies and reporting abnormalities promptly.
- Maintain comprehensive patient records, Outpatient Department (OPD) registers, and immunization tally sheets.
- Dispense prescribed medications and medical consumables under the direct supervision of a pharmacist or medical doctor.
- Ensure that the clinic environment, equipment, and medical instruments remain impeccably clean and properly sterilized.
- Participate actively in community outreach programs and health sensitization campaigns.
- Possess a Certificate in Community Health from a recognized School of Health Technology.
- Hold a valid and current practicing license issued by the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria (CHPRBN).
- Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience working in a recognized clinic, hospital, or Primary Health Care (PHC) setting, with maternal and child health experience being a distinct advantage.
- Proficiency in operating basic medical equipment such as blood pressure monitors and glucometers.
- Basic computer or mobile device literacy for accurate data entry and record-keeping.
- Demonstrate high levels of compassion, neatness, patience, and excellent interpersonal skills when dealing with women and children.
- Must currently reside in Ado-Ekiti or be willing to relocate prior to resumption.
