About the Role
The Centre for Social Cohesion, Peace and Empowerment (CENSCOPE) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Community Engagement Officer to lead community mobilization, social-norms engagement, and coalition-building for our Malala Fund-supported project in Borno State. In this pivotal role, you will serve as the crucial bridge between CENSCOPE, local communities, traditional and religious leaders, and government stakeholders to advance Gender-Responsive Education Budgeting (GREB) and secure financing for the re-entry and retention of married, pregnant, and parenting girls in education.
Key Responsibilities- Lead stakeholder mapping across state institutions and conduct listening and learning meetings with key decision-makers.
- Drive community sensitisation campaigns with traditional and religious leaders across the seven target Local Government Areas (LGAs) and identify local champions.
- Coordinate the multi-stakeholder GREB coalition toward the signing of a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and facilitate regular quarterly coordination meetings.
- Support the recruitment and training of young women as community budget monitors during the project monitoring phase.
- Apply ethical storytelling and survivor-centred communication principles in all community engagement and outreach activities.
- Bachelor's degree in social sciences, development studies, communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of proven professional experience in community mobilization or advocacy, preferably within conflict-affected Northeast Nigeria.
- Strong existing professional networks with government institutions, traditional leaders, and religious stakeholders in Borno State.
- Fluency in spoken and written Hausa and Kanuri, alongside working proficiency in English.
