About the Role
Achieving Health Nigeria Initiative (AHNi) is an indigenous non-profit affiliate organization of Family Health International (FHI 360), dedicated to improving public health and socio-economic development in Nigeria. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Communications Specialist to lead our internal and external communication efforts, elevate our brand visibility, and support our public health and development programs.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement comprehensive internal and external communication strategies aligned with AHNi’s mission and donor requirements.
- Produce high-quality communication materials, including press releases, newsletters, success stories, infographics, policy briefs, and annual reports.
- Manage AHNi’s digital platforms, website content, and social media channels to drive engagement and share project milestones.
- Coordinate the production of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) and Behavior Change Communication (BCC) materials for health projects.
- Liaise with local and international media, organize press briefings, manage media relations, and monitor coverage.
- Support advocacy, resource mobilization, and donor communication by packaging evidence-based project achievements.
- Build capacity for program staff in effective communication, documentation, and knowledge management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Social Sciences, or a related field; a Master’s degree is an advantage.
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years of progressive experience in communications, knowledge management, or media relations within the NGO or development sector.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to translate complex technical data for diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated proficiency in digital communication tools, social media management, and graphic design software such as Adobe Illustrator.
- Familiarity with donor communication guidelines, such as PEPFAR or Global Fund, is a distinct advantage.
- Exceptional interpersonal, public speaking, and networking skills with a proven ability to engage stakeholders and the media.
