About the Role
Jaza Energy is a leading last-mile energy company building solar charging stations and renting batteries in off-grid communities. We are currently seeking a dynamic and skilled Commissioning Technician based in Kaduna to drive our technical expansion into new sites. In this role, you will report to the Commissioning Team Lead, ensuring that all service locations meet our rigorous pre-defined standards for solar technical equipment installation and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare pre-departure checklists for required tools, items, and technical equipment for site commissioning.
- Install and commission solar technical equipment according to established guidelines and documentation.
- Set up new sites in the Star App, Dashboard, and Dataverse prior to handing them over to the regional technician.
- File, update, respond to, and escalate technical issues efficiently using Gitlab.
- Perform remote and on-site troubleshooting for hub performance issues during the expansion phase.
- Ensure 100% connectivity, optimal charge rates, and battery availability for successful go-live.
- Maintain accurate inventory records of hub and shop equipment during the commissioning phase.
- Test new firmware and products while collaborating seamlessly with regional tech, supply chain, and construction teams.
- Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
- 2 to 3 years of technical or engineering experience within the energy, telecommunications, or related sectors.
- Strong expertise in PV system design, electrical installation, and ensuring energy system uptime.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills with a strict commitment to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards.
- Excellent data collection, analytical, reporting, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, adapt to new technologies, and travel frequently to remote locations.
