About the Role
Uniccon Group is a leading technology organization dedicated to building Africa's economy through innovative technological solutions. We are seeking a strategic, results-driven, and visionary Chief Operating Officer (COO) to provide overall executive, operational, and commercial leadership for our institute. In this pivotal role, you will translate executive strategy into sustainable, scalable operations, own our revenue and growth engine, and oversee cross-departmental execution across academic delivery, administration, financial management, and external partnerships.
Key Responsibilities- Translate top-level goals into annual operational budgets, performance targets, and institution-wide KPIs, driving efficiency, scalability, and continuous process optimization.
- Own the Institute's revenue strategy across B2B corporate training, industry certifications, and vocational skills programs, leading high-value commercial negotiations and approving strategic proposals.
- Partner with academic leadership and regulatory bodies such as the NBTE to drive institutional accreditation, maintain quality assurance standards, and launch market-aligned curricula.
- Oversee operational and capital expenditure alongside Finance, optimize resource allocation, and direct strategic procurement and vendor agreements.
- Direct institutional risk management, crisis response, and regulatory compliance while representing the Institute in high-level engagements with government agencies and corporate sponsors.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Engineering, or Education Management; an MBA or relevant Master’s degree is strongly preferred.
- 12 to 15+ years of progressive leadership experience, including 5+ years in a senior executive or COO-level role within a technology institute, TVET institution, polytechnic, or technical college.
- Proven P&L or major budget ownership with a demonstrated track record of commercial business development success and multidisciplinary team management.
- Deep familiarity with NBTE accreditation processes and a background in scaling operations within high-growth technology environments.
