About the Role

Reddington Hospital, a leading multi-specialist tertiary healthcare provider in Lagos, is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and highly organised Chief Matron to lead our nursing and caregiving services. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining exceptional standards of patient care, supervising nursing personnel, and ensuring seamless ward operations supported by state-of-the-art medical technology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide visionary leadership and direction to nursing and support staff across various departments.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and evaluate the performance of all nursing personnel.
  • Ensure the delivery of safe, compassionate, and high-quality patient care in compliance with clinical standards.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive nursing policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Coordinate staff schedules, duty rosters, leave arrangements, and optimal shift coverage.
  • Monitor patient care, hygiene standards, infection prevention protocols, and overall ward management.
  • Ensure accurate, confidential, and timely completion of all nursing records and operational reports.
  • Mentor, train, and support nursing staff to promote continuous professional development.
  • Liaise effectively with physicians, hospital management, patients, and their relatives.
  • Manage medical supplies availability, equipment usage, and address patient or staff concerns promptly.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse and Midwife with a recognised nursing qualification and current practicing licence.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant nursing experience, with substantial background in healthcare supervision or management.
  • Proven previous experience working as a Matron, Senior Nurse, or Nursing Manager is highly desirable.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of modern nursing procedures, clinical governance, and infection prevention practices.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and strong administrative record-keeping abilities.
