The Federal University Otuoke (FUO), located in the oil-rich Niger-Delta Region of Bayelsa State, invites applications from qualified candidates for the position of Chief Legal Officer within the Directorate of Legal Services. Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive legal advice and strategic guidance to the University administration, Council, and various departments.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, memoranda of understanding, and other legal documents involving the university.
  • Represent the institution in court proceedings, arbitration, and other administrative hearings or legal disputes.
  • Ensure university policies, regulations, and operations strictly comply with Nigerian laws and relevant federal educational statutes.
  • Manage external legal counsel and oversee the maintenance of accurate records for all institutional litigation and legal matters.
Qualifications
  • Possess a minimum of five credit passes in O'level subjects, including Mathematics and English Language.
  • Hold a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree and a Barrister at Law (B.L.) certificate.
  • Provide evidence of NYSC Discharge or Exemption certificate.
  • Minimum of 15 years of post-call legal experience, with relevant institutional experience in alignment with the Federal University Otuoke Rules and Regulation Governing Conditions of Service of Senior Staff 2023.
