Key ResponsibilitiesAs the Chief Engineer, you will lead the engineering department and maintain optimal performance of all vessel machinery and systems. Your daily duties will include:
- Directing and managing all engine room operations, maintenance, and repair schedules.
- Ensuring full compliance with applicable maritime regulations, environmental laws, and company safety standards.
- Monitoring fuel consumption, machinery performance, and spare parts inventory to ensure cost-effective operations.
- Conducting routine inspections and executing preventative maintenance plans to minimize vessel downtime.
- Collaborating closely with the Master and deck department to ensure seamless voyage execution and cargo operations.
- Mentoring and supervising junior engineers and crew members to foster a culture of safety and technical excellence.
To be considered for this vital position, candidates must meet the following professional and statutory requirements:
- Relevant maritime certification and a valid Certificate of Competency (CoC).
- Valid STCW certification and up-to-date mandatory safety training.
- Demonstrated relevant sea-going experience in a senior engineering capacity.
- Possession of a valid medical fitness certificate for seafaring duties.
- Strong understanding of marine engineering systems, hydraulics, electrical networks, and propulsion machinery.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and strong leadership skills in high-pressure environments.
