We are currently seeking a visionary and results-driven Chief Agric Officer (Oil Palm) to spearhead our large-scale oil palm plantation operations in Nigeria. In this executive role, you will champion best-practice agronomic strategies, optimize estate productivity, and lead a dynamic team toward sustainable agricultural growth.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement best-practice agronomic strategies for oil palm cultivation, spanning from nursery management to harvest.
- Supervise planting programs, field layout, spacing, and overall plantation maintenance across estates.
- Monitor crop health, conducting regular soil and leaf sampling to formulate targeted fertilizer and nutrient programs.
- Design and manage integrated pest, disease, and weed control strategies alongside strict herbicide safety protocols.
- Establish yield targets per hectare, supervise bunch census, and ensure the timely harvesting and evacuation of Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) to the mill.
- Maintain critical infrastructure, oversee plantation equipment mechanization, and manage logistics with transport teams.
- Ensure strict compliance with environmental regulations, drive sustainability initiatives, and lead certification processes.
- Integrate advanced digital tools such as GIS, drones, and ERP systems into daily monitoring and strategic planning.
- Lead workforce training, optimize labor productivity, and strictly enforce Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, or a related field; a Master's or Ph.D. is highly preferred.
- 10 to 15 years of progressive experience in agricultural management with a proven track record in oil palm operations.
- Demonstrated expertise in leading cross-functional teams and managing large-scale agricultural logistics.
- Desirable certifications include Certified Professional Agronomist (CPA), Certified Crop Advisor (CCA), or Certified Agricultural Consultant (CAC).
