About the Role
Proten International is an international Human Capital Development firm offering a wide range of training, coaching, and consulting services across Europe and Africa. We are currently looking for a meticulous and driven Chief Accountant to oversee day-to-day accounting operations, general ledger integrity, reconciliations, and transaction controls across our group.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee accounting entries for sales, expenses, accruals, prepayments, and journals, ensuring proper approvals and supporting documentation.
- Maintain general ledger integrity, including accurate coding, timely postings, and resolution of suspense items.
- Execute and supervise bank, clearing account, payment gateway, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Manage the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation calculations.
- Support month-end close by preparing trial balance schedules, journal packs, and reconciliations.
- Strengthen accounting processes, internal controls, documentation discipline, and posting accuracy.
- Collaborate with technology teams to improve automation, reduce manual errors, and resolve system-related accounting issues.
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent certification strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of proven experience in accounting operations, general ledger management, and reconciliations.
- Prior experience in high-volume environments such as retail, e-commerce, or distribution is a distinct advantage.
- Proficiency with modern ERP systems, advanced spreadsheets, and payment gateway integrations.
