About the Role
Prime Montessori Nursery and Primary School (PMS) is dedicated to arresting the falling standard in the educational sector by providing qualitative and balanced education to Nigerian children and the broader ECOWAS sub-region. We are currently looking for a passionate and experienced Chess Tutor to join our vibrant academic community. In this role, you will play a vital part in developing cognitive skills, critical thinking, and strategic reasoning among our young learners.
Key Responsibilities- Teach the fundamentals of chess, including board setup, piece movements, and basic rules to young children.
- Develop and implement structured lesson plans tailored to different age groups and skill levels.
- Instruct students on advanced strategies, tactical combinations, and endgame techniques.
- Organize and manage school chess clubs, friendly matches, and intra-school tournaments.
- Monitor individual student progress and provide constructive feedback to foster continuous improvement.
- Inspire a lifelong passion for the game and identify students with exceptional potential for competitive play.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience tutoring or coaching chess, preferably with young children.
- Demonstrated high-level proficiency in chess with verifiable documentation or tournament records.
- Ability to successfully defeat a mid-to-high-level computer chess game during the interview process.
- Exceptional patience, communication, and pedagogical skills suited for working with primary school pupils.
