About the Role
The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) Abuja is a premier 500-bed specialty hospital offering world-class diagnostics and treatment in oncology, cardiovascular, and haematological care. Developed by Afreximbank in clinical partnership with Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, we are committed to transforming healthcare on the continent. We are currently seeking a skilled Central Sterilising Supplies Department (CSSD) Technician to support our advanced surgical and cardiovascular procedures by maintaining uncompromising standards of instrument hygiene, safety, and functionality.
Key Responsibilities- Perform thorough cleaning, decontamination, and sterilization of surgical instruments adhering strictly to infection control protocols.
- Operate and monitor sterilization equipment such as autoclaves and ultrasonic cleaners while conducting routine quality assurance checks.
- Meticulously inspect surgical instruments for damage, assemble comprehensive procedural trays, and manage accurate inventory records.
- Coordinate scheduled servicing, calibration, and preventive maintenance of all CSSD machinery to ensure optimal operational readiness.
- Collaborate closely with clinical teams, participate in internal audits, and train junior staff on proper equipment handling and safety measures.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with mandatory formal training in infection prevention and sterilization techniques.
- Comprehensive understanding of healthcare regulations, safety protocols, and modern CSSD equipment maintenance practices.
- Proven experience working in surgical and cardiovascular healthcare environments is a distinct advantage.
- Strong organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail, and proficiency in maintaining accurate sterilization logs and documentation.
