About the Role
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading humanitarian non-governmental organization dedicated to supporting conflict-affected populations worldwide. We are currently looking for a skilled and dedicated Casual Worker - Driver to join our logistics team in Nigeria. In this role, you will play a vital part in our mission by providing safe, reliable, and timely transportation for staff, goods, and official documents while strictly adhering to organizational security protocols and national traffic regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure the safety and security of passengers, cargo, and vehicles at all times in compliance with Nigerian traffic laws and DRC standards.
- Conduct daily and weekly vehicle maintenance checks, including fluid levels, tires, brakes, and communication equipment.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date logbooks for all trips, fuel consumption, mileage, and maintenance records.
- Transport authorized personnel, official documents, and humanitarian cargo efficiently across designated operational routes.
- Report all accidents, incidents, or mechanical faults immediately to the Logistics Officer and complete required documentation promptly.
- Support office and guesthouse errands, procurement tasks, and the loading or offloading of goods as assigned.
- Minimum of an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or equivalent educational qualification.
- Proven professional driving experience within a humanitarian NGO or reputable corporate organization.
- Valid Nigerian driver's license with a clean driving record and the ability to read, write, and complete vehicle logs.
- Basic knowledge of automobile mechanics and minor troubleshooting capabilities.
- Flexibility with working hours and ability to adapt to changing security and weather conditions.
- Certification in defensive driving and a trade certificate in automobile mechanics are distinct advantages.
