About the Role
We are recruiting a dedicated Cardiac Surgeon Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. You will work alongside our Consultant Cardiac Surgeon, providing essential support in the assessment, surgical management, and postoperative care of patients undergoing cardiac procedures. This role offers the opportunity to develop expertise in one of medicine's most specialized and rewarding fields while contributing to patient safety and surgical excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with preoperative assessment and patient preparation for cardiac surgical procedures
- Review and analyze clinical records, investigations, imaging, and laboratory results
- Provide intraoperative support during cardiac surgical procedures
- Prepare surgical instruments, equipment, and materials to optimal standards
- Support postoperative patient care in collaboration with the Cardiac ICU and clinical teams
- Monitor patient progress and promptly escalate any identified complications
- Participate in ward rounds and multidisciplinary cardiac case discussions
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical and surgical documentation
- Contribute to clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and service development
- Ensure strict compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and hospital policies
- MBBS, MD, or equivalent medical degree with relevant surgical qualifications
- Current professional registration, valid practising licence, and relevant professional certifications
- Minimum 3 years of relevant clinical or surgical experience
- Proven experience in a structured healthcare environment
- Specialized experience in cardiac surgery, critical care, or perioperative services (highly desirable)
- Strong clinical assessment, communication, and technical skills
- Proficiency in operating theatre and multidisciplinary healthcare environments
- Comprehensive understanding of perioperative and postoperative patient management
- Demonstrated commitment to patient safety, professionalism, and continuous professional development
