About the Role
We are recruiting a highly skilled Cardiac Anaesthetist Consultant to join our client's premier cardiac centre. In this pivotal role, you will provide expert anaesthetic and perioperative care for patients undergoing complex cardiac procedures. You will work alongside cardiac surgeons, perfusionists, intensivists, and nursing staff to deliver exceptional, patient-centred care in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive pre-anaesthetic assessments and risk stratification for cardiac patients
- Develop and implement individualized anaesthetic plans for cardiac surgical and interventional procedures
- Administer general and regional anaesthesia with advanced perioperative techniques
- Manage open-heart procedures including coronary artery bypass, valve surgery, and major cardiac operations
- Provide advanced haemodynamic monitoring and cardiovascular support during surgery
- Manage difficult airways and perioperative emergencies with confidence and expertise
- Offer postoperative critical care support for cardiac surgery patients
- Collaborate with cardiopulmonary bypass teams and multidisciplinary cardiac meetings
- Contribute to development of cardiac anaesthesia protocols and quality improvement initiatives
- Supervise and mentor junior anaesthesia staff
- Ensure compliance with safety, infection prevention, and regulatory standards
- Medical Degree (MBBS/MD or equivalent)
- Fellowship in Anaesthesiology or recognized specialist qualification
- Current medical registration and valid practising licence with Nigerian eligibility
- Minimum 5 years post-specialization experience in cardiac anaesthesia
- Demonstrated expertise in cardiac surgery and perioperative critical care
- Advanced airway management and resuscitation skills
- Current BLS and ACLS certification; advanced cardiac certification advantageous
- Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork abilities
