About the Role

We are currently recruiting a seasoned and commercially astute Business Manager – Haulage, Transport & Logistics to oversee and scale our transport operations. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for end-to-end fleet management, business development, cost optimization, and ensuring maximum profitability while maintaining the highest safety standards across our supply chain network in Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute comprehensive business strategies to drive revenue growth and secure new corporate clients in the haulage and logistics sector.
- Oversee daily fleet operations, including truck deployment, route planning, driver performance, and efficient resource allocation to minimize empty trips and downtime.
- Manage fleet maintenance schedules, fuel consumption, vehicle documentation, and repairs in collaboration with the technical team.
- Take full P&L responsibility for the business unit, monitoring operating budgets, cost controls, and pricing strategies.
- Build and nurture robust relationships with major corporate accounts, manufacturers, and freight forwarders, negotiating favorable commercial contracts.
- Lead, train, and supervise logistics personnel and drivers, enforcing strict compliance with company policies and road safety regulations.
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as fleet utilization, on-time delivery rates, and profitability to senior management.
- Bachelor Degree or HND in Business Administration, Logistics, Transport Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 to 8 years of progressive experience in haulage, transport operations, fleet management, or logistics.
- Proven track record in business development, client acquisition, and commercial contract negotiation within the Nigerian logistics market.
- Strong financial acumen with demonstrated experience in budget management and cost reduction.
- Comprehensive knowledge of route optimization, road safety regulations, and modern fleet management systems.
