About the Role
Distinct Star Schools was founded on the firm belief that every child is a star and that our job is to create the right environment for our stars to shine. Starting as a crèche in January 2010, Distinct Star has expanded to include a primary and an international college with over 500sqm of learning spaces. We are currently seeking a passionate and qualified Biology Teacher to join our dynamic academic team and inspire secondary students to excel in the sciences.
Key Responsibilities- Design and deliver effective, engaging, and curriculum-compliant Biology lessons for secondary students.
- Develop comprehensive lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and promote critical thinking.
- Maintain a positive, inclusive, and disciplined classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and maintaining accurate academic records.
- Collaborate with colleagues, school administration, and parents to support holistic student development, including academic, social, and emotional growth.
- Integrate basic ICT tools into daily instruction to enhance the teaching and learning experience.
- Formal qualification in Education or a related field (e.g., B.Ed., PGDE, B.Sc. in Biology with teaching certification, or equivalent).
- Strong lesson planning and teaching skills to design and deliver effective classroom instruction.
- Proven background in education and training, with the ability to apply relevant teaching methods and Nigerian/international curricula.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting effectively with learners, families, and colleagues.
- Demonstrated classroom management abilities and a commitment to inclusive, gender-neutral, and non-discriminatory teaching practices.
