About the Role
The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) Abuja is a premier 500-bed specialty hospital offering world-class comprehensive diagnostics and treatment in oncology, cardiovascular, haematological care, and general medical and surgical services. Developed by Afreximbank in partnership with Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, we are seeking a dedicated Biomedical Technician to join our team in delivering exceptional healthcare across Africa.
Key Responsibilities- Install, configure, calibrate, and verify the safety of medical devices according to manufacturer specifications.
- Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules while diagnosing and repairing technical faults promptly.
- Ensure strict adherence to local and international regulatory standards including ISO 13485, IEC, NAFDAC, and NNRA.
- Provide immediate technical support during complex clinical procedures and advise on equipment lifecycle management.
- Train and mentor clinical staff on the safe use, routine care, and proper handling of biomedical equipment.
- Diploma in Biomedical Technology, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of medical devices within a hospital environment.
- Active membership in relevant professional bodies such as the Association of Medical Engineers and Technologists is an advantage.
- Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and calibration skills with the ability to interpret complex technical manuals.
