About the Role
Taela HR Advisory is recruiting Basic Safety Officers on behalf of our client for dynamic, project-based assignments across Lagos, Abuja, and Enugu. In this role, you will play a vital part in maintaining secure work environments, protecting personnel, and upholding rigorous occupational health and safety standards throughout project lifecycles.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor project sites continuously to ensure strict compliance with health and safety procedures and regulations.
- Identify potential workplace hazards and promptly report any unsafe acts or conditions to management.
- Conduct routine safety inspections and provide valuable support during comprehensive risk assessments.
- Ensure the proper and consistent use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by all site personnel.
- Participate actively in daily toolbox talks and ongoing safety awareness briefings.
- Report all accidents, incidents, and near misses immediately according to company protocols.
- Maintain accurate safety records, detailed inspection reports, and other critical documentation.
- Support emergency preparedness initiatives and assist with effective incident response procedures.
- Enforce adherence to established safety rules and project-specific requirements among all workers.
- Hold an OND, HND, or BSc degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Possession of relevant basic safety training or professional certifications will be a strong added advantage.
- Previous hands-on experience in site safety, construction, industrial operations, or related project environments is highly desirable.
- Good foundational knowledge of modern workplace health and safety practices and Nigerian regulatory standards.
- Strong observation, verbal communication, and incident reporting skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively on-site and rigorously follow established safety protocols.
- Willingness and flexibility to commit to project-based assignments located in Lagos, Abuja, or Enugu.
- Competitive monthly salary ranging from ₦180,000 to ₦200,000, determined based on qualifications and professional experience.
