About the Role
APM Terminals, a global leader in port and terminal operations, is seeking a diligent and safety-conscious Banksman to join our port operations team in Nigeria. In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining a safe working environment by guiding crane operators, monitoring vessel performance, and ensuring compliance with strict maritime safety protocols. Key Responsibilities- Monitor crane and vessel performance, providing timely operational updates on vessel progress and turnaround activities to minimize delays.
- Ensure accurate recording, maintenance, and coordination of vessel and cargo information, including real-time operational documentation.
- Maintain both electronic and physical filing systems for all operational records.
- Strictly adhere to terminal safety rules, standard operating procedures, and work instructions at all times.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions or incidents immediately while supporting safe lifting practices and strict load-limit compliance.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Supply Chain, Logistics, Maritime Management, or Engineering.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with the ability to work accurately and efficiently under pressure.
- Good foundational knowledge of shipping, terminal, and port operations, including maritime documentation processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with terminal operating systems.
- Strong communication and coordination skills, with fluency in both English and Pidgin English.
