About the Role
Margaret Lawrence University (MLU) is a prestigious private institution established in 2022, committed to academic excellence, innovative research, and holistic student development. We are currently seeking a dynamic, accomplished, and dedicated academic leader for the position of Associate Professor / Reader in the Department of Clinical Microbiology, Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in delivering world-class medical education, conducting groundbreaking research, and providing exceptional clinical mentorship to our students across our campuses in Delta State and Abuja.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver engaging lectures, practical sessions, and clinical training in Clinical Microbiology to undergraduate and postgraduate medical students.
- Supervise student research projects, dissertations, and academic development at various levels.
- Conduct high-impact research and publish scholarly articles in reputable peer-reviewed local and international journals.
- Contribute actively to curriculum development, departmental administration, and academic quality assurance.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior faculty members and students within the department.
- Engage in clinical services and community health initiatives aligned with the university's mission and regulatory standards.
- Must possess an MBBS or BDS degree from a recognized and accredited institution.
- Must hold relevant postgraduate medical qualifications (such as FMCPath, FWACP, or equivalent) appropriate for the rank of Associate Professor or Reader.
- Demonstrated extensive teaching, research, clinical, and scholarly experience commensurate with the applied rank.
- Strong portfolio of academic publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
- Active registration with the relevant professional regulatory body (e.g., Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria) along with a valid, current practicing licence.
- Proven capacity for effective teaching, academic leadership, mentorship, and institutional service.
- All submitted academic and professional qualifications must be verifiable.
