About the Role
Federal University Lafia invites applications from suitably qualified and dynamic academic professionals for the position of Associate Professor in Medical Biochemistry within the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences. Established in 2011, our institution is committed to academic excellence, innovative research, and expanding access to high-quality university education in Nigeria. As a key member of our College of Medicine faculty, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of medical and scientific professionals in a vibrant, growing academic environment located in the heart of Nasarawa State.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be expected to provide academic leadership, conduct impactful research, and contribute to the institutional growth of the university. Core responsibilities include:
- Delivering engaging, high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate lectures in Medical Biochemistry.
- Supervising research projects for both Master and Ph.D. students.
- Publishing original research in reputable peer-reviewed national and international journals.
- Participating in curriculum development and departmental administration.
- Mentoring junior academic staff and contributing to community service initiatives.
Applicants must meet the rigorous standards required for professorial cadre appointments in Nigerian federal universities, including:
- Current status as an Associate Professor or Reader in Medical Biochemistry or a closely related relevant field.
- Possession of a Ph.D. in Medical Biochemistry or a relevant academic discipline from a recognized university.
- Demonstrated evidence of outstanding and continuing teaching and research experience in a recognized university.
- A minimum of fifteen (15) academic publications in reputable international and national journals.
- A verifiable track record of successful supervision of postgraduate students at both Master and Ph.D. levels.
