About the Role
Solina Centre for International Development and Research (SCIDaR) is a dynamic institution dedicated to delivering lasting value and improving development effectiveness across Africa. We are currently looking for a motivated Assistant Legal Officer to provide comprehensive support to our legal team by conducting research, reviewing policies, and assessing legal frameworks with a focus on health, education, and human rights law.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct in-depth legal research on national and international laws, policies, and best practices related to health, international development, and human rights.
- Analyse laws, regulations, and policies to draft clear reports, briefs, and legal opinions on policy implications and legal reforms.
- Assist in ensuring organizational compliance with statutory obligations, governance policies, and internal controls, including corporate secretarial duties.
- Support the implementation of the Nigeria Data Protection Act by reviewing data processing activities and maintaining privacy compliance records.
- Liaise with external stakeholders, including government agencies and international bodies, to support collaborative legal and policy reforms.
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree and BL from the Nigerian Law School.
- Demonstrated experience in preparing comprehensive reports, research papers, or legal publications.
- Strong understanding of policy review, development, and human rights advocacy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Basic understanding of data protection and privacy laws alongside strong organizational skills.
