About the Role

We are currently seeking a dynamic and dedicated Assistant Lecturer in Data Science to join our esteemed Faculty of Science and Computing. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping the next generation of data professionals through innovative teaching, rigorous academic research, and practical mentoring within a rapidly expanding technological landscape.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver engaging lectures, tutorials, and practical laboratory sessions in Data Science and related computing courses to undergraduate students.
- Develop and update course materials, syllabi, and curriculum content aligned with current industry standards and academic best practices.
- Conduct high-quality research, publish findings in peer-reviewed academic journals, and contribute to the university's research output.
- Supervise undergraduate student projects, providing academic guidance, mentorship, and career counseling.
- Participate actively in departmental, faculty, and university-wide committees, administrative duties, and community service initiatives.
- Leverage modern ICT tools and learning management systems to enhance student engagement and instructional delivery.
- Possession of a Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or a closely relevant field from a recognized institution.
- Must provide verifiable evidence of active PhD registration.
- Minimum of 1 year of teaching or research experience in a tertiary institution or relevant research environment.
- Must have a minimum of 2 credible peer-reviewed journal publications.
- Demonstrable ICT proficiency and competence in utilizing data science tools, programming languages, and educational technologies.
- Active membership in relevant professional bodies.
- Mandatory possession of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate or official exemption certificate.
