About the Role
Margaret Lawrence University is a premier private institution dedicated to the advancement of learning and the development of character across two world-class campuses. We are currently seeking a dynamic, experienced, and highly qualified Assistant Chief Technologist to join the Laboratory Technical Services department at the Paul Odili College of Medicine, located in River Park Estate, Lugbe, Abuja (FCT). This key leadership role involves supervising technical staff, managing advanced laboratory operations, and ensuring strict adherence to safety and quality assurance protocols to support cutting-edge medical education and research.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate daily laboratory operations, maintenance, and administrative tasks within the Paul Odili College of Medicine.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate junior technical staff to ensure high standards of performance and professionalism.
- Manage laboratory equipment inventory, calibration, maintenance schedules, and quality control procedures.
- Support undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research activities, and practical laboratory sessions.
- Enforce rigorous laboratory safety protocols, standard operating procedures, and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with academic and research faculty to facilitate seamless practical demonstrations and experiments.
- Perform other assigned duties as directed by the appropriate University authority.
- Possession of a relevant Bachelor's degree, HND, or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant laboratory discipline.
- Appropriate professional registration or valid license where applicable.
- Minimum of 12 years of relevant post-qualification experience in laboratory administration, supervision, and management.
- Demonstrated expertise in laboratory safety, quality assurance, equipment handling, and inventory management.
- Prior working experience in universities, teaching hospitals, research institutes, or medical laboratories will be a distinct advantage.
