About the Role

Myrtle Management Consultants is partnering with a leading apparel production factory in Lekki, Lagos, to recruit a skilled and detail-oriented Apparel Technical Designer / Pattern Maker. In this on-site role, you will play a crucial part in bridging creative design and manufacturing execution, ensuring that all garments meet rigorous quality standards and specification requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide sustaining technical design and pattern-making support for ongoing garment manufacturing operations.
  • Handle design responsibilities for customer-specific garment customization requests.
  • Create accurate pattern models that align with precise garment specifications for existing product lines.
  • Modify existing work instructions and comprehensive tech packs to streamline production.
  • Collaborate with the manufacturing team to establish, document, and promote best practices on the factory floor.
  • Investigate garment components to understand assembly processes and apply findings to tech pack development.
  • Make expert recommendations on specifications, patterns, and construction methods to elevate overall product quality.
  • Consult with product designers to discuss base designs, interpret blueprints, and review final prototypes.
  • Develop rough-draft templates using computer drafting software and freehand techniques.
  • Measure, cut, and design patterns using required materials while strictly verifying dimensions and styles.

Qualifications
  • Secondary School Certificate, OND, HND, or Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Proven professional experience as a pattern maker within the apparel industry.
  • Deep understanding of garment construction standards, manufacturing methods, and ergonomic design principles.
  • Proficiency in generating and interpreting Tech Packs, design models, and blueprints.
  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience in apparel grading and grade rule development.
  • Exceptional verbal and written technical communication skills.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to meet strict production deadlines.
  • Physically fit and capable of standing for long periods during on-site factory work.
