About the Role

We are currently looking for an experienced SME Anti-Fraud Manager to lead the identification, investigation, and prevention of fraud specifically across our growing SME business. Please note that this is primarily a field and sales-related fraud role rather than a traditional AML, transaction monitoring, or card-fraud position, focusing heavily on Business Developers, agents, and merchants.
Key Responsibilities- Lead comprehensive field investigations into suspected merchant and sales staff fraud, including staff and merchant collusion.
- Conduct physical merchant and field verification visits alongside rigorous investigative interviews.
- Identify emerging fraud patterns across Business Developers, merchants, markets, and regional locations.
- Review collected evidence and prepare clear, actionable investigation reports with well-defined recommendations.
- Identify vulnerabilities in existing processes and collaborate on practical fraud-prevention controls.
- Partner closely with Sales, Credit, Risk, Verification, Collections, and Operations teams to actively reduce fraud losses.
- Train field teams across Nigeria on identifying fraud red flags, prevention strategies, and reporting protocols.
- Bachelor degree in a relevant academic field from a recognized institution.
- 3 to 5 years of proven experience in fraud investigation, field verification, credit risk, SME lending, internal controls, or collections.
- Strong background in fintech, digital lending, banking, or microfinance is highly preferred.
- Exceptional understanding of field sales, merchant acquisition, SME lending, and sales-force fraud mechanics.
- Strong analytical, investigative, interpersonal communication, and report-writing skills.
- Comfortable with extensive field investigations and traveling when required across operational regions.
