About the Role
The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) Abuja is a premier 500-bed specialty hospital dedicated to delivering world-class comprehensive diagnostics and advanced medical care across Africa. Developed by Afreximbank in partnership with Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, we are seeking an experienced Lead Anesthetist to direct our anesthesia services, ensuring the highest standards of clinical excellence, safety, and patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities- Provide visionary clinical leadership to the entire anesthesia team, overseeing complex surgical and diagnostic procedures.
- Drive strategic service development, integrating cutting-edge anesthesia technologies and optimizing patient care pathways.
- Ensure strict adherence to clinical governance, regulatory standards, and evidence-based patient safety protocols.
- Conduct regular clinical audits, manage departmental resources, and lead continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Mentor junior anesthetists, residents, and support staff, fostering a culture of continuous professional development.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including surgeons, intensivists, and operating room staff.
- Medical Degree (MBBS/MD or equivalent) from a recognized institution with a valid practicing license.
- Board Certification in Anesthesiology (e.g., FWACS, FMCNA, or equivalent international certification).
- Minimum of 9 years of post-qualification experience as an Anesthetist, with proven leadership background.
- Demonstrated expertise in advanced anesthesia techniques, regional anesthesia, and critical care management.
- Postgraduate qualifications in healthcare management or leadership are highly desirable.
