About the Role

Located at the Imo State Specialist Hospital in Umuguma, Owerri, our facility is positioned as West Africa’s premier hub for advanced minimally invasive surgery and comprehensive cancer care. We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Anaesthetist to join our exceptional medical team and help us eliminate outbound medical tourism by providing world-class healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer general, regional, and local anesthesia to patients undergoing complex robotic and oncological surgeries.
  • Conduct thorough pre-operative assessments and optimize patients for surgical procedures.
  • Monitor patient vital signs continuously throughout surgical interventions to ensure maximum safety.
  • Manage post-operative pain and recovery in collaboration with surgeons and critical care teams.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records in compliance with hospital standards.
  • Participate in emergency response protocols and multidisciplinary medical team meetings.
  • Adhere strictly to international patient safety guidelines and infection control policies.
Qualifications
  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
  • Postgraduate fellowship or professional qualification in Anaesthesiology (e.g., FWACS, FMCPath, or equivalent).
  • Valid practicing license from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of post-qualification clinical experience in a reputable healthcare facility.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing anesthesia for advanced surgical procedures.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and crisis-management skills.
