About the Role
HelpMum is leveraging mobile technology and low-cost innovation to tackle maternal and infant mortality in remote rural, semi-rural, and urban areas across Nigeria. We are currently looking for a talented AI Engineer to join our dynamic team on a strictly on-site basis in Lekki Phase 2, Lagos State. Key ResponsibilitiesAs our AI Engineer, you will drive technological innovations by performing the following core duties:
- Design, develop, and deploy production-grade AI solutions leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Generative AI technologies.
- Architect and implement end-to-end AI/ML pipelines, covering data preparation, model selection, training, fine-tuning, evaluation, inference, deployment, and monitoring.
- Maintain scalable AI pipelines using cloud infrastructure to ensure reliable performance even in low-bandwidth environments.
- Work extensively with Speech AI technologies, including Speech-to-Text (STT), Text-to-Speech (TTS), voice processing, and real-time conversational AI pipelines.
- Design, curate, preprocess, and validate high-quality datasets for model training, fine-tuning, and evaluation.
- Establish and follow best practices for AI development, experimentation, testing, deployment, and the responsible use of AI.
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and technical proficiencies:
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical field.
- Experience: 3+ years of professional experience in AI/Machine Learning engineering, preferably within the health-tech or social impact sectors.
- Tech Stack: Expert-level Python proficiency (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras), and strong SQL and data engineering skills.
- NLP & Cloud: Demonstrated experience with Transformers, Hugging Face, LLM fine-tuning, Docker, Kubernetes, and MLOps.
- Passion for Impact: A deep-seated desire to solve real-world developmental problems in Africa through innovative technology.
