About the Role
The Katsina State Government is seeking a dedicated and qualified Agric Officer II (Agronomist) on Grade Level (GL) 08 to drive agricultural productivity and sustainable farming initiatives. Located within the fertile West Sudanian savanna and Sahelian regions, Katsina offers a vibrant environment for agricultural innovation, leveraging major water bodies like the Bunsuru, Gada, and Sokoto rivers to enhance food security and rural livelihoods across the state.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical advice and extension services to local farmers on modern agronomic practices.
- Conduct soil and crop assessments to recommend optimal planting and harvesting techniques.
- Collaborate with agricultural stakeholders to implement state-sponsored farming programs and irrigation projects.
- Monitor crop health, pest management strategies, and yield improvements across designated zones.
- Compile regular field reports and data on agricultural production to aid policy planning.
- Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics or a closely related agricultural science discipline from a recognized and accredited institution.
- Must possess a mandatory NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
- Must be an indigene of Katsina State, aged between 18 and 49 years.
- Must successfully pass the competitive merit-based screening test.
