About the Role
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a dedicated and organized Administrative Assistant to join our Sub-Office in Kano, Nigeria. Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in migration management, committed to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. In this role, you will provide critical administrative, financial, and logistical support to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of humanitarian programs and operations under the supervision of the Resource Management Officer.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the supervisor’s calendar, screen appointments, handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, and maintain confidentiality for sensitive communications.
- Coordinate administrative support services for meetings, workshops, special projects, and high-level events, including drafting accurate minutes.
- Process and monitor routine administrative actions involving human resources, contracts, procurement, finance, and logistics using IOM computerized systems.
- Maintain comprehensive filing and reference systems, review office procedures for efficiency, and recommend continuous improvements.
- Research, compile, and organize background information, reference materials, and statistical data for comprehensive reports and briefs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field with at least three years of relevant professional experience, or a High School Diploma with five years of experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and digital office management tools.
- Demonstrated knowledge of administrative, financial, procurement, and human resources processes.
- Prior working experience with international humanitarian organizations, NGOs, or governmental institutions in a multicultural environment is a distinct advantage.
