About the Role
Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Nigeria, a prestigious private conventional institution established in 2005, is seeking a talented and passionate Adire Instructor. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in preserving Nigerian cultural heritage by teaching students traditional tie-dye and textile design techniques. You will inspire the next generation of creatives while upholding our core values of academic excellence, wisdom, and moral uprightness.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and deliver comprehensive lesson plans on traditional and modern Adire making techniques.
- Guide students through practical dyeing, patterning, and fabric preparation processes.
- Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and maintain academic records.
- Organize workshops, exhibitions, and practical training sessions within the university.
- Collaborate with faculty members to integrate textile arts into broader creative arts curricula.
- Ensure a safe working environment in the studio and manage workshop materials effectively.
- Proven expertise and practical experience in Adire production and textile design.
- Relevant academic qualification or certification in Fine Arts, Applied Arts, or a related field.
- Strong passion for teaching and mentoring young adults in vocational and creative skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
